This location is a few steps outside my studio. I worked on the canvas for three to four months. I built two canvases and decided to work on them both at the same time for the entire winter. I worked on this subject matter many cold nights throughout the winter. I would paint the landscape. Use a palette knife and scrap / remove the paint. Put more paint on the canvas. I wanted to challenge myself in my creative approach.

Some nights I felt like anything was possible. The world felt infinite. My mind was comforted by the silence, stillness, empty winter night sky. Other nights I was feeling pretty useless. My mind was feeling black. It all felt like a massive attack of wasted time. Wasting time, wasting pigments. Those nights were pretty hard. A lot of paint was removed from the painting at the end of those nights. But I kept working and working.

After three to four months and many nights painting working on this canvas I felt like I had managed to accomplish something that I could live with.

thank you for taking the time to read the following words.
