Getting setup to paint - Ottawa. Bank and Laurier. Dec 15th. 2011

Before starting to paint... I had to go to the bathroom... So I ran over to Tim Hortons for 12 donuts.

Carmela Marrese, Will Hrynewich, and Shannon Lee all showed up on location to paint together. It was fun.
The creative energy was all shared.
Carmela and I decided to go out painting together weeks before.
The night before my mind blinked and I decided to create a Facebook Event page and invite 500 people (last minute) to join me painting.

Sean McKibbon. Managing Editor, Metro News Ottawa showed up...
and the next day the above was printed in the Metro Newspaper. Thank you to Metro Newspaper.
| A lot can be learnt from a crack head whore.
They have no shame.... they have addiction... and they will do anything to get more. I do not do drugs. I am an artist. I am addicted to paint. I am addicted to creativity. I am addicted to Art. I need Art. I Love Art. My self promotion is very aggressive. And it works. 19 years of hardcore intense hard work. My victory is simple. I get to live my life as a dream. Lots of Paint. My motivation for going out and painting downtown on location is simple. To paint. The new series of paintings that I have been working on Summer Series. I wished to challenge myself. To paint downtown and be surrounded by all the buildings. The glass, the lines, the spaces, the structures, modern living... it really is inspiring. I have been wishing to and paint at Bank and Laurier Ave for about 5 months. It took me this long to creatively settle my mind into the format of the location. It is my intention to start inviting artists to all paint together outside on location. It is fun. We need more art. Artists need to get out of their studio... Freedom. Be an artist... be a whore... self promote... inspire your life. live dreams... never sleep Patrick |

Christine Leger (crazy artist) - she made a special trip to the location to bring me hot tea.

artists all hard core at work

I had been working for several hours. Paint was every where. My hands were covered. I forgot to bring a clean rag.

I really like this photo that Christophe Forget took of Carmela and I.
Christophe Forget also took the day off work... he made a video of the painting experience.

December Morning. oil on canvas. December 14th 2011. Price: $1800
This was the first painting I completed. It was a cold grey December day in Ottawa.
The mood / energy translated well. I let the paint blow across the canvas. That was the wind in the morning air.

December Day. oil on canvas. December 14th (before lunch). Price: $1800
The sun was higher in the sky. The rays of light were open and fresh.
The buildings were very inspiring. I really felt connected to this moment.
The canvas and space just breathed. It was a song of structure.

When I finished the paintings I put them aside (on tubes of paint - to protect the sidewalk)
I left them there for people to see / share.
I was nervous about this... the fear of some one touching the painting and fucking up their cloths.
The wind also was strong... and I did not wish them to blow over.
But I wished to share with people in the moment. So the risk was taken.

Bank and Laurier (III). oil on canvas. December 14th 2011. Price: $1200.
The positive and negative space between the buildings and sky.
The structure in the surroundings.
I took colours from buildings, glass, texture... the painting, the creative process developed.
I really loved painting that day. Wow. Having other artists to share the moment with. Dream.

Bank and Laurier (IV). oil on canvas. December 14th 2011. Price: $1200.
At this stage in the day. My mind was in a Dream.
Pure. Gentle. Soft. Love. Everything balanced.

Same painting as above - the light / feel of the painting is so different.

Shannon Lee (right) is such a great human being.
She had an emergency in the morning. But still made the effort to join us.
Shannon... You Rock!!!!!!!!!!

This pigeon kept dancing around my feet... he was eating my donuts. smile

Load up the car... time to rock and roll.
