The Willow World painting is oil on linen. 38 x 78 inches. 1998-1999. It is very textured. And explores the positive and negative spaces created in TAN, COS, and SIN functions. I have been working on the Willow World theme now for some time now. It is extremely frustrating to reduce this painting to a digital image. The painting took two months to complete, consists of over twenty layers of oil paint. And when scene in the flesh the true nature of the work can be appreciated.

Marco Martins hear about me through a mutual friend (Coran Bolser). He initially came to my house at 18 Garfield Road in Plaistow to talk about creating an online art gallery. At the end of the night he said, 'So when can I come back to buy some of these paintings'.

When he returned he understood and recognized my situation. I was painting in the second bedroom, that had a washing machine, and stored approximately fifty paintings. He offered to sponsor me: to pay for a proper studio for a year, and give me £1500 for material expenses.

At the end of the night I was so happy and excited that I could not sleep.

The painting: Working in my Mother's Garden. oil on linen. 32 x 48 inches. 1999. Is about my Mother and how she loves working in her garden. I missed her and wanted to write her a letter. But my life is rather mundane. My letters are so boring, and I honestly feel like I could simply photocopy the last one, change the date, put another stamp on, and put it in the post. This painting is more a letter to my Mother. And how I was feeling and how much I love her. My Mother lives in Nelson, British Columbia (in the middle of the Rocky Mountains). She has a beautiful house with a beautiful garden that she spends countless hours in.
