Cathy sent out an invitation to the group of artists a week before. I was really looking forward to this day. Judy (fellow artist) was kind enough to offer me a ride in her car. She was very punctual on Saturday morning. I was not ready. I still had to get the computer print off the of the map, and collect my supplies. Like a headless fool I throw my equipment in the back of her car... only to realize that once we arrived at Cathy's place that had forgotten my palette and paint box. My head was in the clouds. Judy is and was very kind to let me use her paint. The car ride was tense. Judy pushed all my buttons and baggard me in an entertaining way. The entire journey she branded me as useless for my feeble efforts to help with directions. We laughed and it was really an experience being a passenger in Judy's car. Cathy's home is so beautiful and such an incredible gold mine for subject matter. I really hope and look forward to future visits. Her husband and daughter were so warm and friendly. They really made us all feel so welcomed. The weather was winter. The day before it snowed 25 - 30 cms. So everything was blanketed in pure white. There was awind, but it wasn't that cold (perhpas minus 6 degrees). In the past I have had trouble with my canvas blowing off my easel. So I decided to use long wood screws and drill the canvas from the back to the easel. This really worked. In future I will continue to do this. It was great energy - five artists all painting outside in the open field. We had a great time. So nice to all share ideas, talk about art, and paint together. thank you |
