The Crowd paintings.

The below abstract faces paintings are in response to the war in Iraq. The top abstract face painting took three months to complete. I was repressing the anger I was feeling about the world events. Angry, hate, pain paintings do not really sell. They inevitably create more of a storage problem and a general burden due to the consumption of art materials... etc. Once I managed to complete the first painting (top painting) the river of paint released and the others all followed within the next month. Ivory black = Oil.... Red Blood. Dead.

I neglected to update the measurements / prices / details of each work for most people do not really gravitate to such intense morbid paintnigs. A year and a half after later an artist / musican in in Austraila (Magnus) approached me if he could use one of the paintings for his cd cover.

Dear Patrick,

I was just browing the internet for abstract face art and came across your work. I was wondering if you would let me use The Crowd. oil on linen. Sept - Dec 2002. as cover art for my latest CD. I am independent, unsigned.. all my work is available free both on and offline and is entirely nonprofit.... I just think it fits in well with my new work.

Yours faithfully,

Magnus.

Dear Magnus

Thank you for your email. You have my premission to use any image of mine for your CD cover. I you need me to sign an official legal document... etc I would be more than happy to do that.

If it is not too much to ask could you please send me a copy of your music (signed by you).

Patrick,

Sure thing. I am kind of slack but I have written it down, as soon as this album is complete you've got a copy with your name on it and a shout out on the album and of course the website.

Thank you so very much for that. It is greatly appreciated.

- Magnus.

... on further note!

I have just been following up some of your other pieced and I am intrigued! It's just crazy how your work seems to match the style of my music perfectly.

I am going to keep you in mind as a set artist for my works (if you are interested of course).

I am also looking for an abstract site design. The music I create can't really be clasified, it is sort of hard to pick the genre, but it holds alot of pain and confusion. It's my way of expressing myself.

I have a gig coming up soon, it will be my CD launch, I will make sure I mention your name and site then.

Thanks, and once again.. keep in touch

p.s. Let me know if your interested in helping out.

Dear Magnus.

That all sounds great. I think you will need a photo of the painting with higher resolution... so tomorrow or over the weekend I will take a very high quality photo of the painting and send it to you.

You can use as many and all the images of my work on my site that you wish.... tell me what painting you need and I will take a very high quality photo of the painting and email them to you.... no problem.

Thank you for appreciating my work. I very much lookforward to hearing your music.

What is your website. I would like to hear your stuff. Where do you live?

I live in London England. East London. What I was asking was if you could sign autograph your Cd and send a copy to me. But if you wish to put my website address I would appreciate that very much and thank you.

best wishes

Patrick

Hey Patrick,

Your copy of the CD will be signed, don't worry.

I actually live in Australia but I was born in Iceland.

I am currently redesigning the site, but as soon as it's upto scratch again i'll make sure I send you the link.

There is so much that moves me on your site and I'm not sure what to use yet. I can send you a dry track via email let you listen to and maybe you could chose what you think goes with. You have a mind for detail so I would trust your selection. The track is dry, that means there are no vocals... I have done a quick home recording of the vocals just to set the vibe but it's bad qual at the moment. Studio time next tuesday :-D

So, if you are interested in hearing a track let me know :-)
