The beginning of The Days and Night Painting. This painting was inspired by a conversation with AJ Davidson. We went to a pub in Nottinghill and shared ideas about art. He explained how he wished art or a painting to be about the stages of life. It was a very inspiring night. On the way home on the Underground I did the below drawings. The below is the mapping out of The Days and Night painting... first I primed the linen with rabbit skin glue, and used lead oil based primer. The painting is divided into three stages / sections = (Birth / Living / Death). I worked on this painting more than two months. In the middle of doing this painting my wife Erika gave birth to our first child Isabelle Chantal Mills (September 1st 2003) |
