Trevor Basu Private Collection: Vancouver. Canadian Artist, Canadian Painter, Canadian Poet
Abstract expressionist painting landscape painting of the City of Montreal. The Cross on the top of the Mountain... the city buildings looking like grave stones. I painted this work shortly after the death of my father. I was a student a Concordia University in Montreal. I would walk up and down Saint Catherine Street with the emptiness and deep sense of lose. I was 20 years old. My fathers death was sudden and unexpected. I continued at University. Why? I was only 20 and had no idea what I wanted to do in life. And I felt it was best to structure my time in a constructive manner. At this point in my life I had not aspirations of being a painter / artist. I merely needed to paint.

The City of Montreal. oil on canvas. 24 x 36 inches. 1993. (SOLD)
