As you walk down this street you cannot help but notice the lack of architecture. Each building on the left is so boring that the investor responsible for constructing these must have had the creativity equal to a dial tone. I am sure that is investor is a highly respected man, but what he has created in the community is not really respectable. Each building is identical to it's neighbor in structure.

If I was a drunken resident returning home after a night at the local pub - I would certainly be confused as to which building to return to. Thankfully I am not a tenant to these less than luxurious establishments.

I walk up and down Blake Blvd. every time I go to the community center / library. Each time I pass this string of developments I think to myself - What an asshole this developer was, and equally how foolish the city was to permit this eye sore.

There are 12 but really 13 identical cheap shoe box structures all built along one side of the street. All made with most economical materials and no frills interior. I expect that the developer has since sold each unit off individually, and moved on years ago to continue his endeavors. Perhaps we should question if he ever lived in one of these units? Unlikely. Ironically this developer is highly respected for being such a wealthy individual. But he has contributed nothing to this community and most likely lives in a home best described as a castle on the other side of town.

As for the city hall employee who permitted this construction. I have one question, "Do you not feel any guilt when you receive your wages, or do you only complain that you are being underpaid as you leave the office early."

There is a cheap emptiness with these buildings that stimulated my imagination. Each building is a slight pastel tone different to its neighbor. These buildings made me think of Morandi's still life paintings bottles and jugs. Before I continue I must point out that I absolutely love Morandi's contribution to art and hold his work in the highest regard.

Each building is so close to each other. If you change your position on street or turn facing them directly the relationship between the structures chances.

The sky was clear blue when I painted this work. There was a freshness in the air. I had a great time painting this painting.

Thank you.
