Twig: a series of still life paintings

I am not certain of the correct order or number of the paintings. I was waking up early in the morning (6 - 7 am) and painted until sometimes as late as 9:30 pm. I must admit even this routine was rather obsessive for myself. The fascination with the slight differences... mixing the colours with different tones... placing red on the branches... fluctuating the number of blossoms on the branches... manipulating the ends of the branches to add a morbid creepy element to the tenderness of the subject matter... the slight changes in the angle in the table top... highlighting the vase with touches of green and adjusting the tones of the vase... playing with the background (putting in lines / grids / open spaces / vibrating tones). After doing ten of this series I felt it was time to stop... as I write this text... I feel withdrawal and could easily find myself continuing on this series... it was a real pleasure to work on. |
